Since 1923, VMA has represented the Commonwealth's motorcoach operators,
travel planners, and trade partners in matters at the state level.
Established in 1923, the Virginia Motorcoach Association represents Virginia's motorcoach operators, travel planners, and trade partners in matters at the state level.
VMA works to promote the motorcoach tour and charter industry and to highlight the achievements of its members and their contributions to the economies of Virginia and North America.
The Association advocates the enactment of just and proper laws regulating the motorcoach industry, and works to protect members from encroachment, discrimination, improper interference, and inequitable taxation.
VMA retains a professional legislative advocate in Richmond to keep the Association informed on pending legislation affecting the bus industry — and to speak for operators when it counts.
VMA promotes safe motorcoach travel through educational speakers at the Annual Convention and VMA-sponsored seminars held throughout the year.
Each year VMA's convention offers educational sessions, a marketplace for professional tour planners and group leaders, and a casual setting for building business relationships.

In 2023 the Association celebrated 100 years of active advocacy for motorcoach operators and tourism associates in the Commonwealth — marked with a commemorative anniversary magazine, directory, and centennial celebration with members and neighboring state associations.
Every member signs the VMA Code of Ethics — a creed adopted to maintain the
highest standards of intercity bus service and personal conduct.
To adhere to the professional standards of the Virginia Motorcoach Association and to work to further its goals and objectives.
To conduct all business affairs with integrity, sincerity, and accuracy in an open and forthright manner.
To act with integrity in financial dealings with the public and with entities utilized to help arrange or provide services and accommodations to motorcoach travelers.
To conduct business and operations in such a manner as to protect the public and promote the image of the industry.
To work to instill consumer and public confidence in the industry, avoiding any action conducive to discrediting it or membership in the Association.
To maintain current status on all licenses, permits, and authority required by the USDOT, the Virginia DMV, and other federal, state, and local agencies.
